This new $6.4 million facility houses both Vigilant Hose Co. #1 and Shippensburg Area EMS. The facility exterior is comprised of brick and split-face CMU with precast concrete. Interior features include living quarters, 10 total bays (5 for each company), offices, hose tower, shower rooms, locker rooms, and a museum featuring artifacts from the last 170 years. Green items include a 10,000 gallon rainwater collection tank used to fill tanker trucks and wash equipment, low flow plumbing, occupancy sensors for lighting, local materials with recycled content, and low VOC products.
